Tibia Global Coming back after a decade — knight & druid, Open PvP, from level 1.

01 — What's new

Thirteen years, in nine parts.

Everything below is a pair: what you remember on the left, what is true in 2026 on the right. Read it in order — the later sections assume the earlier ones.

1 · Fighting

This is the part that will feel strangest, because it changes muscle memory rather than adding a menu.

Combat modes

Then

Three fighting stances on the toolbar — full attack, balanced, full defense — plus the chase/stand and PvP toggles. Switching them mid-fight was core play.

Now

Combat mode was removed entirely in the June 2026 vocation update. The +20% attack value from offensive stance is now permanently applied to everyone; shields gained +30% defence and spellbooks +60% to make up for the lost defensive mode. The attack penalty from defensive mode was simply dropped, not carried over.

Stances

Then

Knights had utito tempo and utamo tempo as timed buffs you cast and then waited out.

Now

Every vocation has stances — persistent modes, one at a time, unlocked with promotion, remembered between sessions. Knights toggle Blood Rage (+30% weapon skill, +15% damage taken) against Protector (−15% damage taken, −30% damage dealt, +30% shielding). Druids pick a healing stance. Sorcerers get an elemental stance and a curse stance at once.

Strike spells and range

Then

exori frigo and friends were 3-square nudges you cast when something was adjacent-ish.

Now

Strong and ultimate strikes hit at range 7 and hit considerably harder. Druids also got Forked Glacier and Forked Thorns, which chain from your target to several nearby creatures — the first real single-target-to-cluster spells the vocation has had.

Mana and potions

Then

Knights drank mana potions only. Mages hoarded great mana potions. An energy ring plus utamo vita was the standard panic button.

Now

Knights can drink strong mana potions. Great mana potions are usable by every vocation, and a superior mana potion exists for everyone except knights. Sorcerers and druids can no longer use energy rings at all — they get a mana shield potion instead. Ultimate healing runes no longer work on other players.

Dying

Then

You hit zero, you died, you lost experience and gear.

Now

Two safety nets. Gift of Life (level 300, all vocations) occasionally heals you just before a fatal blow. And mages have Barrier: a blow that would kill you instead drops you to 1 HP and converts the rest into mana damage at an eight-times multiplier — if the mana isn't there, you still die.

Regeneration

Then

Regeneration only ticked while you were "full" from food, and the rates were vocation-specific in odd ways.

Now

Unified for all vocations: HP every 4 seconds, mana every 6. Eating gives a saturated state that shortens those to 3 and 5. Regeneration always happens now — food makes it faster, it isn't a prerequisite.

2 · Starting out

The starting island

Then

Rookgaard, then later Dawnport, then a boat to the mainland at level 8.

Now

A short linear tutorial, then a portal to Newhaven (October 2025). Dawnport is gone and characters left on it were wiped. Newhaven has a village with a trader, banker, spell trainer and quest givers, two themed hunting grounds to the north, and a level 8 door west that also needs a confirmed email. Level is capped at 20 on the island.

Choosing a vocation

Then

You walked through a door on Dawnport and could re-pick until you left.

Now

You pick from a pop-up on arrival and step onto a vocation platform. It is permanent — no changing later, and no returning to Newhaven once you leave. Choose deliberately.

Rooking

Then

Dying enough at low level sent you back to Rookgaard, which people did on purpose to reset things.

Now

Rooking no longer exists. New characters can still visit Rookgaard once from the starting area, but once you leave you can never go back. The achievements that used to require rooking were made obtainable another way.

Carrying things

Then

Base capacity was low and gold weighed 0.10 oz a coin, so a full backpack of gold was a real constraint.

Now

Base capacity is 600 for every vocation, and gold weighs 0.01 oz — a tenth of what it did. Empty potion flasks got much lighter too. The old ritual of running to the depot with 5,000 gold is over.

3 · Growing your character

What a level gives you

Then

Hit points, mana, capacity. That was the whole list.

Now

All of that, plus — from level 51, promoted, on premium — one point for the Wheel of Destiny. Four domains, 36 slices, up to 4,000 points. Small stat perks near the centre, spell augments in the middle, and entirely new spells and abilities at the rim. Respecs are free in a temple, so experimenting costs nothing.

Gems

Then

Now

The Gem Atelier (2023) bolts a loot layer onto the wheel. Gems drop from influenced and fiendish creatures and from bosses; revealing one binds it to your character and rolls its mods; you socket it into a matching wheel domain. The Fragment Workshop upgrades those mods, and fully upgrading one grants an extra permanent wheel point. This is deep endgame — worth knowing exists, not worth planning around before level 300.

Weapon skill

Then

Sword, axe and club were three numbers that went up as you swung.

Now

Those still exist — and on top of them, every individual weapon has its own proficiency tree (2025). Kill things with a specific weapon equipped and it levels up, unlocking one perk per level, up to seven levels. Since 2026 you can also pay dust to replace two of a weapon's default perks with rolled ones. Progress is per weapon and per character, and it does not transfer.

Training skills

Then

You hit a friend, or a trapped monster, or paid someone to hold a rat.

Now

Exercise dummies in every training school. You buy exercise weapons (store or NPC), use them on a dummy, and train at a flat rate — on a dummy every offensive skill advances at the same speed, including magic level. One exercise weapon has 500 charges, about 17 minutes. Offline training also exists but is capped hard on free accounts.

4 · Your equipment

What gear does

Then

Armor, defence, attack, maybe a skill bonus. A magic plate armor was a magic plate armor forever.

Now

Items have imbuement slots. You bring creature products to an imbuing shrine and burn 20 hours of leech, crit, elemental damage, elemental protection, skill points, speed or capacity into the item. Life leech (Vampirism), mana leech (Void) and crit (Strike) are the three that change how the game feels — they're what makes long modern hunts sustainable.

Item tiers

Then

Now

The Exaltation Forge in the Adventurers' Guild fuses two identical items into one of a higher tier, or transfers a tier from one item to another. Tiers grant a slot-specific passive: Onslaught on weapons, Ruse on armor, Momentum on helmets, Transcendence on legs, Amplification on boots. Fuel comes from dust dropped by influenced creatures — premium only.

Where the good gear comes from

Then

Dragon lairs, demons, a handful of legendary quest rewards, and the market for the rest.

Now

Long boss quest chains, each with its own equipment tier: Falcon and Cobra sets, then Soul War (soulwalkers, soulbastion, spiritthorn), Rotten Blood, Primal Ordeal, and as of Summer 2026 the Moonsilver set from Make Believe. All of it is far above your level for a long while — but it explains the prices you'll see on the market.

5 · Why you kill things

In your Tibia, monsters gave experience, gold and drops. They now feed five separate progression systems at once.

Bestiary and charms

Then

Now

Killing a creature type enough times completes its Bestiary entry (three stages, thresholds set by difficulty) and pays charm points. Charm points unlock charms, which you attach to a specific creature for a permanent effect against it — elemental burst damage, crit chance, dodge, extra loot. Since late 2024 they're split into major and minor charms and you can run one of each per creature. The bestiary is also where you look up a monster's resistances, which is now the normal way to plan a hunt.

Animus Mastery

Then

Now

Sacrifice a creature's soul core in the Soulpit and you permanently gain +2% base experience from that creature forever, plus a small global bonus that grows with every mastery you own. Soul cores drop from fiendish monsters.

Prey

Then

Now

Two slots on premium (one free, a third buyable). Each slot picks one creature from nine offered and grants a two-hour bonus against it: up to +25% damage, −30% damage taken, +40% experience or +40% loot. The timer runs while you hunt anything, so you set it at the start of a session, not halfway through.

Tasks

Then

Grizzly Adams' hunting tasks, if you were premium and bothered.

Now

A Task Board (November 2025) with two tracks. Bounty Tasks: pick one of three creatures at a difficulty you choose, get experience, bounty points and reroll tokens, feeding a Bounty Talisman. Weekly Tasks: up to 18 rotating kill and delivery objectives paying hunting task points and soulseals for solo Soulpit runs. Task points buy things in a shop, including wheel points.

The daily boost

Then

Now

Every server save picks a boosted creature (more spawns, more experience, more loot) and a boosted boss (counts triple for the bosstiary, 250% loot rate, cooldown reset). It's shown on the website and in the client. Hunting the boosted creature is often the single highest-value thing you can do that day.

Stronger versions of normal monsters

Then

Now

Influenced creatures (1–5 stacks of extra health and damage) drop forge dust. Fiendish creatures are rarer and stronger, drop soul cores and better gems, and you can locate the nearest one with exiva moe res. Since Summer 2026 Echo Raids also appear: step on a stationary echo and a small optional raid spawns, sometimes led by an Echo Warden that pays charm points and drops imbuement scrolls.

6 · Bosses

Getting to a boss

Then

Camp the spawn, race whoever else was camping it, hope you got there first.

Now

Most quest bosses are on a personal cooldown — typically 20 hours for access bosses, longer for final ones — behind a lever or teleport you activate yourself. No racing. Loot goes into a reward chest you open at your convenience instead of a corpse on the floor.

Bosstiary

Then

Now

The boss equivalent of the bestiary. Killing bosses earns boss points, which raise the equipment loot bonus on your boss slot — a chosen boss that then rolls extra loot for you. A second slot unlocks at 1,500 points.

Soulpit

Then

Now

An arena where one soul core teleports up to five players into a ten-minute wave challenge ending in a strong enemy. It's how you convert soul cores into Animus Mastery, and it's genuinely good duo content.

7 · The hunt itself

Looting

Then

Open corpse, drag items, repeat, run out of capacity, go home.

Now

Automatic loot with per-item rules, a loot pouch that doesn't count against your backpack, and a supply stash at the depot that holds stackables in bulk. Creature products for imbuements are pulled straight from the stash when you imbue.

Knowing if a hunt was worth it

Then

You guessed, or you did arithmetic on paper.

Now

The client has an analytics panel: experience per hour, loot value, supply cost, net profit, and a party hunt analyser that splits it fairly between you and your friend and tells you who owes whom. Use it — it will kill arguments and bad hunting spots.

Exploring

Then

You explored because you wanted to.

Now

The Discovery System tracks points of interest per subarea, and since Summer 2026 fully discovering areas grants a permanent speed bonus in them, scaling from 100 up to 195 speed as you complete more. Subareas activate automatically now — you no longer have to opt each one in.

8 · Client and interface

The client

Then

The old Flash-era client, plus whatever the community had built.

Now

A completely rebuilt client with resizable panels, real hotkey management, a market interface, a store inbox, and — since 2025 — a Multi-Action Button that cycles up to three actions on one hotkey, a use-at-cursor option, and spell opacity sliders so a boss room isn't a wall of animation. There's also a mobile client that plays the same characters on the same worlds.

Looking things up

Then

Alt-tab to a wiki.

Now

The Cyclopedia holds it all in-client: bestiary, bosstiary, charms, item prices, your character sheet and combat stats, a map with your own annotations, houses, and a Magical Archive tab for spells and runes. The quest log became a searchable, filterable, pinnable tracker.

Talking to NPCs

Then

Type hi, trade, yes in the chat and hope you remembered the keyword.

Now

A dialogue window opens in the game with the NPC's portrait, clickable keywords, and shortcut buttons for trade, sail and bank. The keyword system still works exactly as before underneath — you can still just type.

9 · Account and world

Free versus premium

Then

Free accounts were cramped but workable; premium mostly bought you travel and a few spells.

Now

The gap is much wider. Free accounts are limited to Thais, Carlin, Venore, Ab'Dendriel, Kazordoon and Yalahar, get no promotion, no Wheel of Destiny, one prey slot, two charms, basic imbuements only, and no forge dust. For what you're planning, premium is not optional.

Paying for things

Then

Premium scrolls, and a grey market for accounts.

Now

Tibia Coins — bought with money, tradeable in-game for gold, spendable on premium time, outfits, mounts, extra prey slots, blessings and services. There's also an official Char Bazaar where whole characters are auctioned for transferable coins. The grey market is largely dead, which is good for you.

Hired help

Then

Now

Hirelings live in your house and act as a personal banker, trader, or shrine, so you don't run to town for every errand. Bought with Tibia Coins.

Dying, financially

Then

Five blessings, an amulet of loss, and a lot of anxiety.

Now

Seven regular blessings, each cutting death experience loss by 8%, plus Twist of Fate in an eighth slot that absorbs the loss of your other blessings when you die to a player. On an Open PvP world, buying all of them before every session is not optional — see Open PvP.

A caution about recency

The June 2026 vocation rebalance is the newest thing on this page and the most likely to be tuned again. Where exact numbers matter to a decision, check the in-game Magical Archive or the official spell library rather than trusting a figure written down in September 2026.
